Which One Should You Pick?

Here's my practical take, not a sales pitch.

Choose a heat pump if: you're in a mild climate, you want to eliminate natural gas, or you're replacing an old AC and the electric panel is already ready. If both options are on the table, run a total-cost calculation with 15 years of maintenance, not just the purchase order.

And one more thing: don't confuse a heat pump with a patio heater. If your actual need is heating an outdoor seating area, a patio heater is simpler, cheaper, and easier to maintain. They solve different problems. I've watched facility managers overthink this.

If your building also has Johnson Controls refrigeration equipment—cold storage, process cooling, maybe a server room AC—use the same logic. The equipment is only as good as the technician who can service it. Recruitment is a real bottleneck in this industry.
